Public Safety Canada announced the contribution on June 26, 2026 under its Crime Prevention Action Fund. The recipient is the Department of Justice of the Government of Nunavut, not a local contractor or a new standalone organization.

The funding supports a Pond Inlet alternative to the formal court process, combining clinical supports such as counselling, mediation, healing circles and life-skills therapy with community cultural programming, land-based experiences and traditional skills led by Inuit Elders and community members.
