This is a daily health and household-service issue. Residents cannot use regular tap water for consumption purposes and must rely on the household reverse-osmosis units or purchased water instead.

A March 12 Government of Nunavut notice said the advisory would remain until the new water-treatment plant is operating and the water is found safe to consume. The Sept. 17 territorial reminder confirms the advisory remains active but does not repeat its original issue date or give a lifting date. The newer government drinking-water page lists the June 24, 2016 notice date and high salinity as the reason. This is a do-not-consume advisory, not a boil-water advisory: boiling tap water is not presented as the approved alternative for drinking or food preparation.
