NIRB screening remains active for Iqaluit-based Nunavut Inuit ecosystems field course
The Nunavut Impact Review Board is accepting public comments on Royal Roads University’s proposed Namminiqsurniq Nunavut Ecosystems Field Course, connected to a six-month learning program for Nunavut Inuit employees at Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada’s Iqaluit regional office. CRTC seeks Nunavut input by Sept. 18 on Indigenous broadband-funding stream
The CRTC’s consultation on an Indigenous-specific stream within its Broadband Fund remains open until Sept. 18, 2026. The proceeding could affect how Inuit organizations, communities and Indigenous-led entities apply for funding for high-speed internet and cellphone infrastructure, but it does not approve a new funding stream or commit money to a Nunavut project. The Nunavut Tunngavik Foundation is accepting applications for $1,500 Skills and Employment Advancement Scholarships for Inuit in recognized training or upgrading programs lasting at least four weeks. NTI lists trades, employment-skills and upgrading programs—including pre-trades, Personal Support Worker, Adult Basic Education, PASS and foundation programs—as examples. Iqaluit tender notices include visitor-centre work, snow clearing and air charter services
The Government of Nunavut’s tender portal lists three active Iqaluit-related procurement notices: envelope replacement at the Unikaarvik Visitor Centre, as-and-when snow clearing for the Nunavut Housing Corporation, and an Iqaluit–Arviat return air charter. These are solicitations for bids, not contract awards.
Three Nunavut Arctic College programs planned for Pond Inlet training centre this fall
Nunavut Arctic College and the Qikiqtani Inuit Association announced June 3 that they plan to start three programs at Pond Inlet’s new Research Training Centre in September 2026: Personal Support Worker, first-year Interpreter/Translator, and first-year Fur Production and Design. The programs remain planned, rather than confirmed as underway.
