The CRTC has extended the deadline to comment on its proposed Indigenous stream of the Broadband Fund to Dec. 1, 2026 at 8 p.m. Eastern time. The proceeding could matter to Nunavut Inuit organizations, governments and communities seeking a funding process better suited to Indigenous-led internet and cellphone projects, but it is a consultation, not a funding call or approval. Nanisivik exploration proposal moves to response stage in NIRB screening
The Nunavut Impact Review Board says Honey Badger Silver Inc.’s proposed Nanisivik exploration program remains in active screening and moved to an “Opportunity to Respond” stage on Oct. 1. Inuit firms registered on the Inuit Firm Registry can bid by Nov. 26 for a federal standing offer covering environmental consulting work at federally controlled sites across the Nunavut Settlement Area. The tender does not award a contract or approve any specific project.
Travel Nunavut estimates sector supported 6,460 jobs in 2025
A Travel Nunavut-commissioned assessment estimates the territory’s broad travel industry supported 6,460 jobs in 2025 and generated $843.6 million in gross output, up modestly from its 2024 estimate. The industry association’s president raised the findings in a Sept. 22 meeting with Nunavut MP Lori Idlout. The meeting did not produce a funding commitment, policy change or federal decision. CRTC broadband-funding applications close Thursday for eligible Nunavut projects
Eligible Nunavut governments, Inuit organizations, corporations and project partnerships have until Thursday, Oct. 15, at 8 p.m. Eastern time to submit complete applications to the CRTC’s fourth Broadband Fund call. Nunavut Inuk writers can apply for Inuktuuqta! book prize by Oct. 20
Nunavut Tunngavik Incorporated has opened the fifth annual Inuktuuqta! Writing Prize. One Nunavut Inuk author can receive a grand prize of up to $80,000, plus support to complete and publish a full-length book in Inuktitut or Inuinnaqtun. Applications are due Oct. 20. Source↗

The Government of Nunavut says it is introducing a Nunavut Inuit Study Grant benefit through its student-aid program this autumn for Inuit students enrolled under the Nunavut Agreement. Annauma announces $5.5M BHP Foundation investment for Nunavut community organizations
Annauma Community Foundation says it has received a $5.5-million philanthropic investment from the BHP Foundation to support its community-led granting, a long-term fund for Nunavut’s nonprofit sector and organizational-development work. Canada posts advance notice for potential $5B-plus NORAD infrastructure contract in Iqaluit
Defence Construction Canada has posted an advance notice for a potential modified design-build contract at the Canadian Armed Forces’ Forward Operating Location in Iqaluit. The notice says the multi-year contract may exceed $5 billion, but it is not a request for proposals, an award or approval for construction. Arctic Bay harbour project is underway under $77M contract with Iqaluit-based Pilitak
Canada says construction on Arctic Bay’s new small-craft harbour began in August and is expected to continue until 2029. The $77,035,350 federal construction contract was awarded to Iqaluit-based Pilitak Enterprises Ltd. in February, with the harbour expected to operate by the 2030 open-water season. Source↗
Federal tender seeks engineering proposals for Pangnirtung harbour improvements by Oct. 30
Public Services and Procurement Canada is seeking an engineering firm to plan and oversee improvements at Pangnirtung’s small-craft harbour. The request for proposals includes replacing floating wharves, improving the launch ramp and dredging the entrance channel and mooring basin. Proposals close Oct. 30 at 2 p.m. Eastern time.
