Iqaluit consumer prices rose 3.4% over the year to July, Statistics Canada says
Statistics Canada’s July Consumer Price Index release puts Iqaluit’s all-items CPI at 150.6, up 0.9% from June and 3.4% from July 2025. The annual increase was above Canada’s 3.0% rate. This is an Iqaluit measure, not a territorial Nunavut CPI.

Official spill file records 200-litre fuel release from marine vessel in Baker Lake
A public spill record lists a 200-litre petroleum-fuel release from a marine vessel in Baker Lake, reported at 6:52 a.m. on Aug. 25. Coast Guard confirms four shoals of unknown depth in Nunavut shipping zone
The Canadian Coast Guard has issued a NAVWARN confirming four shoals of unknown depth in Shipping Safety Control Zone 16. Canada to impose new U.S. counter-tariffs Sept. 8; Nunavut-specific effects not yet confirmed
Canada says new counter-tariffs of 15%, 25% and 50% on selected U.S.-origin goods will begin at 12:01 a.m. on Sept. 8. The measures cover imports valued at $27.6 billion and include steel, aluminum, dairy, appliances, fish and seafood, furniture, clothing, electronics, agricultural equipment, pulp and paper.
