The Legislative Assembly passed the Appropriation (Operations and Maintenance) Act, 2026-2027 on June 10, and it received assent the next day. The budget address identified added health staffing linked to Nunavut’s suicide crisis, increased Justice funding for RCMP crime-reduction work, staffing and suicide-response supports, firearm safety work, and increased support for municipal insurance programs. Departments can spend within the authority approved for 2026–27, subject to their program rules and normal government controls.
