Nunavut remains Canada’s youngest territory, new estimates show
Statistics Canada estimates that 29.5% of Nunavut residents were younger than 15 on July 1, 2026, while 5.5% were 65 or older. The territory’s median age was 27.6 years, lower than every province and territory. ᓇᑭᓐᖔᖅᓯᒪᓂᖏᑦ↗

Statistics Canada released updated annual population estimates by age and gender on Sept. 23. Nunavut’s estimated share of residents aged 0 to 14 fell 0.7 percentage points from a year earlier, while the share aged 65 and older rose 0.3 points. The median age increased by 0.4 years. ᓇᑭᓐᖔᖅᓯᒪᓂᖏᑦ↗
