The school is already in use: the department says students began the school year there on Aug. 24. The ceremony is a public milestone for a completed education facility, not an announcement of new funding or a future construction approval. ᓇᑭᓐᖔᖅᓯᒪᓂᖏᑦ↗

The territorial government had budgeted $31.5 million for construction of a new Taloyoak high school in its 2025–26 budget address. That earlier budget figure is a planned capital allocation and should not be described as the final project cost. ᓇᑭᓐᖔᖅᓯᒪᓂᖏᑦ↗
