What happened
CanadaBuys lists the RCMP’s “Elevator Maintenance Services, Iqaluit HQ, Iqaluit, NU” opportunity as open, posted Aug. 12, 2026 and closing Sept. 8, 2026. The solicitation number is M5000-25-05409/B. It follows an earlier /A version of the same procurement that had a June 15 closing date, so this is a reissued solicitation rather than an award.
Why it matters
The procurement gives elevator-service firms a current federal bid opportunity in Iqaluit. It is also subject to the Nunavut Agreement and federal contracting rules for the Nunavut Settlement Area: bidders are asked to set out Inuit employment, subcontracting, training and Inuit-business involvement through an Inuit Benefits Plan. The plan accounts for 35% of the combined evaluation score; price accounts for 65%.
What happens next
Suppliers must submit compliant bids by Sept. 8, 2026 and should monitor CanadaBuys for amendments, which the RCMP says bidders are responsible for checking. The RCMP will then evaluate responsive bids; no successful supplier, contract value or start date is yet public.
