Pauktuutit opened the annual nomination period on Oct. 5. Its announcement says the Young Inuk Woman of the Year category is for Inuit women aged 16 to 35, while the Inuk Woman of the Year category is for Inuit women aged 36 and older. Nominations are submitted through Pauktuutit’s online form, and the organization says its board will select the recipients. ᓇᑭᓐᖔᖅᓯᒪᓂᖏᑦ↗

This is a time-limited national recognition opportunity open to nominees from Nunavut. It gives community members a way to put forward Inuit women whose work, leadership and service have made a difference.

Nominations are due Friday, Oct. 30, 2026, at 5 p.m. EDT, which is 4 p.m. in Nunavut’s Eastern Time communities. Pauktuutit says recipients will be announced at its annual general meeting in Ottawa from Nov. 17 to 19. ᓇᑭᓐᖔᖅᓯᒪᓂᖏᑦ↗

The public announcement and nomination form do not fully match on the age-category wording. The announcement says young nominees may be 16 to 35 and older-category nominees must be 36 or older. The form labels the choices “Under 35” and “Over 35,” which could leave unclear how a nominee aged 35 is categorized. Pauktuutit should clarify that point for nominators. ᓇᑭᓐᖔᖅᓯᒪᓂᖏᑦ↗
