Statistics Canada released its July 2026 Labour Force Survey figures on Aug. 7. For Nunavut, its seasonally adjusted three-month moving-average estimate shows a labour force of 17,800 people, including 15,800 employed people and 2,000 unemployed people. The release provides the newest territory-wide indicator of employment conditions. It should not be read as an Iqaluit measure: Statistics Canada publishes territorial figures as three-month moving averages, and says they are not directly comparable with provincial monthly estimates. Statistics Canada will issue its next Labour Force Survey update with August data. A later release will show whether the July estimate develops into a clearer trend; this single monthly movement is not statistically significant.

Nunavut’s July employment rate was 57.3%, down from 57.8% in June, and its participation rate was 64.6%, down from 65.3%. Compared with July 2025, Statistics Canada estimates employment was up 1,500 and the unemployment rate was up 1.4 percentage points.
