Statistics Canada released its July 2026 retail-trade data on Sept. 24. Its territory table lists Nunavut retail sales at $66 million, compared with $69 million in June and $60 million in July 2025.

The release provides a current territory-wide indicator of retail spending. It shows a month-to-month decline after seasonal adjustment, while sales in current dollars remained higher than a year earlier. It does not show whether the change came from prices, the amount of goods bought, a particular retail sector or any specific community.

Statistics Canada says it will release August 2026 retail-trade data on Oct. 23. The July estimate may be revised as more survey and administrative information becomes available.

The figures are seasonally adjusted and expressed in current dollars. June 2026 was revised, while July 2026 is preliminary. Statistics Canada’s Monthly Retail Trade Survey draws on a sample of retailers and administrative data.
