Nunavut Tunngavik Incorporated and the Government of Nunavut hosted an event called Nunavut: Building Canada’s Arctic Future alongside the Canada Investment Summit in Toronto. Premier John Main, NTI vice-president Paul Irngaut, project proponents, investors and industry representatives took part. Reliable power, communications, ports and transportation links affect the cost and availability of goods and services in Nunavut, as well as future development opportunities. But the announcement is an investment appeal, not a decision to spend public money or proceed with any particular project. Residents should not treat it as confirmation that a new power link, port, road or telecommunications project has been funded or authorized.

The release gives no project-by-project list, funding amount, investor commitment, procurement schedule, regulatory decision or construction timeline. Any proposed project would still need its own financing, approvals and, where required, Nunavut planning and environmental-review steps before construction could proceed.

This is a news release, not a funding call, tender, regulatory approval or construction notice. The Government of Nunavut says its projects of national interest cover clean energy, telecommunications, transportation and marine infrastructure. A March 2025 GN-NTI release separately identified the Qikiqtarjuaq Port, Grays Bay Road and Port, Kivalliq Hydro-Fibre Link and Iqaluit Hydroelectric Project as infrastructure priorities; the Sept. 14, 2026 release does not say which individual projects were presented in Toronto or whether any have advanced. ᓇᑭᓐᖔᖅᓯᒪᓂᖏᑦ↗
