Iqaluit consumer prices rose 3.4% over the year to July, Statistics Canada says
Statistics Canada’s July Consumer Price Index release puts Iqaluit’s all-items CPI at 150.6, up 0.9% from June and 3.4% from July 2025. The annual increase was above Canada’s 3.0% rate. This is an Iqaluit measure, not a territorial Nunavut CPI.
What happened
Statistics Canada released its July 2026 Consumer Price Index data on Aug. 17. Its table for Iqaluit shows the all-items index increased from 149.3 in June to 150.6 in July, and from 145.6 in July 2025. Sourcewww150.statcan.gc.ca↗
Why it matters
The release provides a current, independently produced indicator of changes in the overall consumer-price level faced in Iqaluit. The 3.4% annual increase was 0.4 percentage points higher than the Canada-wide CPI increase in the same release.
What happens next
Statistics Canada says it is scheduled to release the August 2026 CPI on Sept. 14. The July figures are not seasonally adjusted, so the one-month change should be read cautiously alongside future monthly releases.
Important details
The index uses a 2002=100 base. Statistics Canada publishes CPI figures for Iqaluit, but not a single all-Nunavut CPI in this release. The available Iqaluit table confirms the all-items change; it does not identify local product-category drivers in the release table used here.
