B2Gold cuts Goose Mine’s 2026 production outlook after crusher fire slowed second-quarter output

ᓇᐃᓈᕐᓗᒍ

B2Gold says its Goose Mine produced 12,890 ounces of gold in the second quarter of 2026, after an April fire in the crushing circuit reduced the amount of ore the mill could process. The company narrowed its 2026 production outlook to 170,000 to 200,000 ounces, reducing the top end of its earlier range by 30,000 ounces. ᓇᑭᓐᖔᖅᓯᒪᓂᖏᑦ

B2Gold’s August 6 second-quarter results provide the newest specific update on operations at the Kitikmeot-region Goose Mine. The company reported that the mine milled 72,334 tonnes of ore and produced 12,890 ounces of gold from April through June. That brought first-half production to 55,766 ounces.

B2Gold attributed the lower-than-expected second-quarter output to reduced mill throughput after an April 16 fire damaged part of the crushing circuit. The company said no one was injured and that the mill and power plant were not damaged. It reported $68 million in second-quarter capital spending at Goose, including site and civil work, deferred stripping, underground development at Umwelt and mobile equipment. ᓇᑭᓐᖔᖅᓯᒪᓂᖏᑦ

The results show the operational effect of the fire at a mine that only entered commercial production in October 2025. B2Gold has kept the bottom end of its 2026 Goose production forecast at 170,000 ounces, but reduced the top end from 230,000 to 200,000 ounces.

The company reported second-quarter all-in sustaining costs of US$6,390 per ounce sold at Goose, saying lower gold sales and higher sustaining capital spending contributed to the result. These are company-reported non-IFRS measures, meaning they are not standardized financial measures under IFRS. ᓇᑭᓐᖔᖅᓯᒪᓂᖏᑦ

As of B2Gold’s August 6 report, the company expected fire-related repairs to finish during the third quarter of 2026. It said it had bought and transported an additional mobile crusher to the mine, expected to be operating in early August, alongside existing mobile crushers.

B2Gold estimated the fire repairs would cost about US$13 million, excluding the additional mobile crusher. It also planned a first phase of permanent crusher upgrades costing about US$11 million, with an expected crushing capacity of about 3,200 tonnes per day by the end of the third quarter. A second upgrade phase, estimated at US$25 million, was scheduled for completion by the end of the first half of 2027 and is intended to raise capacity to 4,000 tonnes per day. These are company forecasts and planned works, not confirmation that the upgrades or repairs are complete. ᓇᑭᓐᖔᖅᓯᒪᓂᖏᑦ
