In its Aug. 6 second-quarter results, B2Gold reported 12,890 ounces of gold production at the Kitikmeot mine for April through June, compared with 42,876 ounces in the first quarter. It attributed the lower Q2 production to reduced mill throughput following the April 16 fire in the crushing circuit, partly offset by higher mill feed grade. The revised forecast lowers the top end of Goose’s 2026 expected output by 30,000 ounces. B2Gold says it is using mobile crushers while repairs proceed, and that its Q2 all-in sustaining cost was US$6,390 per ounce sold, which it attributes to lower sales volumes and higher sustaining capital spending. B2Gold expects fire-related repairs to cost about US$13 million and be completed in Q3 2026. It says the first upgrade phase, budgeted at about US$11 million, is intended to bring crushing capacity to about 3,200 tonnes per day by the end of Q3. A second, US$25-million phase is scheduled for completion by the end of the first half of 2027, with an expected average capacity of 4,000 tonnes per day. B2Gold says it purchased and transported an additional mobile crusher to site at an expected final cost of US$16 million, and expected it to begin operating in early August. The company reported first-half Goose production of 55,766 ounces and US$138.3 million in capital expenditures through June 30.
