GN employees represented by NEU move to 3% higher pay scale Oct. 1
Government of Nunavut employees covered by the Nunavut Employees Union agreement move to a 3% higher pay scale on Oct. 1, 2026. The increase was already negotiated, ratified and signed; it is the next scheduled change under the collective agreement that runs until Sept. 30, 2028. Source↗
What happened
Appendix B of the current GN-NEU collective agreement sets a 3% increase to the pay line effective Oct. 1, 2026. It follows a 9% increase effective Sept. 30, 2024 and a 3% increase effective Oct. 1, 2025. The agreement schedules a further 2.5% pay-line increase for Oct. 1, 2027. Source↗
Why it matters
This is a direct pay change for GN workers in the NEU bargaining unit across Nunavut. It is an implemented term of the existing agreement, not a new bargaining settlement or a new government funding announcement.
What happens next
The agreement’s next scheduled general pay increase is 2.5% on Oct. 1, 2027. The agreement expires Sept. 30, 2028. Source↗
Important details
The GN and NEU signed the agreement on March 12, 2026, after NEU members ratified it. The agreement covers Oct. 1, 2024 through Sept. 30, 2028. It requires the employer to pay each subsequent negotiated salary increase no later than the month after it becomes effective. The public records checked do not independently confirm the date individual employees will see the new rate on a paycheque. Source↗
