Nunavut announces new FANS benefit package for eligible Inuit post-secondary students
Nunavut’s Education Department says it is introducing a Nunavut Inuit Study Grant under the Financial Assistance for Nunavut Students program this autumn. The announcement lists added supports including holiday travel, furniture, school supplies, tutoring and health-and-wellness allowances, but does not give benefit amounts or a specific start date. The Government of Nunavut is accepting applications until Sept. 24 for its first Accredited Administrative Professional Program cohort, a one-year training program for Inuit GN employees in administrative roles or seeking that work. Environment and Climate Change Canada has amended an open request for proposals for phytoremediation work at the Eureka High Arctic Weather Station on Ellesmere Island. Agnico Eagle says Hope Bay construction and ramp work advanced in second quarter
Agnico Eagle says redevelopment work at its Hope Bay gold project advanced through the second quarter, including camp and office upgrades, power-plant foundations, underground ramp development and drilling. The update is new progress since the company’s May investment decision, but it does not show that outstanding production-phase permits have been issued.
CRTC extends deadline for input on proposed Indigenous broadband funding stream

CRTC adds internet-resiliency projects to Broadband Fund, with potential relevance for Nunavut
The CRTC has made projects that reduce the risk of telecommunications outages eligible for its Broadband Fund. The new rules could apply to satellite-dependent communities through a second, diverse satellite backhaul connection with new ground-station equipment. Nunavut’s Department of Health is inviting local, regional and hamlet organizations to apply for one-time funding for community food-skills projects. Inuit food-skills programs will be prioritized, while projects focused only on emergency food distribution are not eligible. KIA says 2026 scholarship applications are open until Sept. 25

Nunavut Arctic College seeks Inuktitut name for new research and education network
Nunavut Arctic College is inviting the public to submit a one-word Inuktitut name for its new Research and Education Internet Network. NTF opens $1,500 training scholarship after ending its post-secondary award
Nunavut Tunngavik Foundation is accepting applications for a $1,500 Skills and Employment Advancement Scholarship for Nunavut Inuit in recognized trades, employment-skills and upgrading programs lasting at least four weeks. The Foundation has ended its separate post-secondary scholarship. It says Makigiaqta Inuit Training Corporation provides similar funding, but Makigiaqta’s current online policy describes its post-secondary support as supplementary funding for eligible Inuit degree students who already have other funding. The Government of Nunavut is seeking one representative from a legally operating Nunavut business for a three-year, part-time seat on the Nunavummi Nangminiqaqtunik Ikajuuti Appeals Tribunal. NIRB screening remains active for Inuit environmental-training field course near Iqaluit
A proposed field course for Nunavut Inuit learners employed through the federal Nunavut Regional Office remains in active screening at the Nunavut Impact Review Board. The course would include one-week field sessions in Sylvia Grinnell and Katannilik territorial parks in September 2026 and March 2027, weather permitting. The Nunavut Impact Review Board has opened public screening for Honey Badger Silver Inc.’s proposed Nanisivik mineral-exploration program, about 20 kilometres east of Arctic Bay.
