What happened

The Government of Nunavut issued a public service announcement on Oct. 15 asking residents to complete its Alcohol Awareness Pre-Campaign Insights Questionnaire. The department says the survey takes about five to six minutes and will help it understand what residents believe a future campaign should address.

Why it matters

This is a territory-wide chance for residents to influence the messages, languages and community approach of a planned public-health campaign. The government has not announced the campaign’s budget, launch date, content or any new alcohol policy.

What happens next

The questionnaire closes Nov. 21, 2026. Health and wellness staff are scheduled to distribute it in person in Gjoa Haven from Oct. 18 to 20 and Kugaaruk from Oct. 22 to 25. Cambridge Bay visits were scheduled for Oct. 14 and 15.

Important details

Participation is open to everyone aged 16 or older. The government says answers are anonymous and confidential. Residents can complete the questionnaire online or get a printed copy from their community health representative. This is a consultation for campaign development, not a decision to introduce a new alcohol law, program or service.
