Nunavut environmental-consulting tender deadline extended to Oct. 28

In brief

Defence Construction Canada has extended the deadline for Inuit firms to apply for a Nunavut environmental-consulting source list to Oct. 28 at 2 p.m. Eastern time. The earlier deadline was Oct. 14. The solicitation could select up to three firms for as-needed work over two years, but it is not a contract award or confirmation that work has started. Source

What happened

A Sept. 25 amendment changed the closing date for solicitation CR26SL01_87572, “Environmental Consultant Services in Nunavut,” from Oct. 14 to Oct. 28, 2026 at 2 p.m. EDT. The notice remains open. Source

Why it matters

The procurement is restricted to qualified Inuit firms in good standing on the Inuit Firm Registry. It covers potential environmental assessment, contaminated-site, compliance-monitoring, hazardous-material and related work for Department of National Defence locations across Nunavut. Source

What happens next

Eligible firms must submit abbreviated proposals through the MERX electronic bidding system by the amended deadline. Defence Construction Canada says it intends to choose the three highest-scoring proponents for the source list; awards for individual assignments would come later, if required. Source

Important details

The proposed source list would run for two years and has a maximum estimated value of $15 million. Individual assignments are expected to range from $200,000 to $1.5 million, although the notice says there is no maximum value for an individual commission. Evaluation criteria include Inuit employment, training and skills development, subcontracting to Inuit firms, and offices or facilities in the Nunavut Settlement Area. Source
