Arviat RCMP seek witnesses after ATV collision; man charged with impaired operation

What happened
Nunavut RCMP say officers responded at about 5:45 p.m. on Aug. 31, 2026, to a collision involving a white Ford F-150 pickup and a yellow Can-Am ATV at the intersection of 3rd Avenue and 7th Street in Arviat. Police say the ATV driver was thrown from the vehicle and injured. RCMP say a 33-year-old man was arrested at the scene and charged under the Criminal Code with operation while impaired. The investigation remains ongoing.
