What happened
The Government of Nunavut’s Nunavut Quits website lists text messaging as a way to contact the Nunavut Quitline. Its Quitline page was last updated June 24, 2026 and gives both the text instruction and the existing phone number, 1-866-368-7848. Source↗
Why it matters
The update gives Nunavummiut another way to reach quit support without making a phone call. The service says it can help people who want to reduce or quit tobacco or vaping, people who have already quit and want support, family and friends, and health and wellness workers seeking information about tobacco, cannabis and vaping.
What happens next
People seeking support can text NUQUITS to 123456 or call 1-866-368-7848. Nunavut Quits also has a newly posted Inuktitut quit calendar and an updated tobacco-reduction pocket guide. Source↗
Important details
The Quitline page describes the service as confidential, free and available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. A related Government of Nunavut pocket guide says nicotine patches, gum, lozenges, mouth spray and inhalers are available at no cost through health centres or local pharmacies. Source↗
