The City posted the two Public Works tenders on Sept. 24. Tender 2026-RFT-017 seeks supply, delivery and stockpiling of 3,000 cubic metres of modified Granular C road sand at the City Operations Centre garage and 1,000 cubic metres of Class A road gravel at the City pit. Tender 2026-RFT-016 seeks a contractor to excavate 26 plots at Apex Cemetery, install City-supplied burial boxes, place gravel backfill, remove surplus material to the West 40 landfill and restore affected areas. The tender says the work is intended to complete the cemetery’s old section. The planned start date is Oct. 23, subject to award, with completion listed for Dec. 22. Source↗

The procurements set out the City’s next planned steps for basic municipal materials and cemetery capacity. Neither tender discloses a budget, winning bidder or final contract value.

Suppliers have until 3 p.m. Eastern time on Oct. 7 to bid on the granular-material tender and until 3 p.m. Eastern time on Oct. 9 to bid on the cemetery work. The City’s schedules list proposed award dates of Oct. 14 and Oct. 21, but those dates are not awards.

The cemetery tender requires the contractor to protect existing graves, markers and monuments, and to stop work and notify the City if an excavation encounters an existing burial, suspected human remains or an unexpected obstruction.
